8 Easy Trail Mixes (THM S | THM E | Keto Friendly | Kid Friendly | Low Carb | Low Fat)

Writer's picture: Cooking For AlaskaCooking For Alaska

I have always loved trail mix for its variety. It can be spicy, sweet, savory, creamy, crunchy, or a combination of all! It's also one thing I didn't want to give up while staying on plan, because trail mix just has such variety for everyone to enjoy. So I did some research and came up with some yummy mixes.

These eight trail mixes are great for the whole family as there is something in here for everyone. If you are in weight loss mode, make sure to stay away from the crossovers! Once you get to maintenance mode where you are trying to keep the weight goal you want, you can enjoy the crossovers with your kids. So, while you can't have M&M's anymore, I know these trail mixes will meet any craving you get!

The Sophisticated Trail Mix

THM S | Low Carb | Keto-Friendly

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

With a little crunch, a little sweet, a little salt, and something creamy, this mix is great for sweet-and-salty cravings!

Ingredients

4 cups whole raw almonds

1/2 cup Lily's Dark Chocolate Chips or Bake Believe Dark Chocolate Chips

1/4 cup dried organic Goji berries

1 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt

This delicious mix has only 73 calories, 2.1 g protein, 5.8 g of fat, and 2.9 net carbohydrates in one serving. This makes it a great S snack that you can pair with an S meal or have in between meals, just remember to eat meals every 3 hours, especially when switching fuels. The Goji berries have a nice slightly sweet taste that pairs well with the deep flavors of the dark chocolate chips and salty crunch of almonds. I recommend using this instead of the Traditional Trail Mix (see below) when you are craving something similar to the Traditional Mix.

The Coco Cabana Trail Mix

THM S | Low Carb | Keto-Friendly

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

Bring the taste of the Big Island home with this delicious trail mix! It has that perfect warm nuttiness of the coconut and macadamia mixed with the creamy texture of white chocolate chips that you'll love!

Ingredients

4 cups macadamia nuts, deshelled

1/2 cup Bake Believe white chocolate chips

4 Tbsp coconut flakes, unsweetened

This mix has 281 calories, 2.6 g protein, 29 g fat, and 3.5 net carbohydrates. I don't recommend eating this one every day because it is higher in calories, but would make a great snack on the occasion if you are needing something sweet and filling.

The Savory Trail Mix

THM S | Keto-Friendly | Low Carb

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

This savory blend will kick your taste buds into high gear with their delicious crunchy textures and mix of spices.

Ingredients

2 cups whole raw almonds

1 1/5 cups pumpkin seeds

1 cup roasted sunflower seeds

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

1/4 tsp Himalayan Pink Salt

This trail mix has 212 calories, 16.8 g protein, 17.5 g fat, and 3.3 net carbohydrates. This is a great snack if you are craving something savory and crunchy. Enjoy in moderation though, because this mix is also high in calories.

The Cajun Trail Mix

THM S | Keto-Friendly | Low Carb

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups whole raw almonds

1 1/2 cup walnuts

1 cup pumpkin seeds

1 cup roasted sunflower seeds

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/8 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt

This mix has 331 calories, 15.7 g protein, 30.8 g fat, and 4.7 g net carbohydrates. This snack is best as an in-between-meals snack because it is high in carbs and calories. It has a nice spicy flavor that is a great fix for anyone who likes Flaming Hots or Dynamitas.

The Nutty Mix

THM S | Keto-Friendly | Low Carb

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

Ingredients

1 cup whole raw almonds

1 cup walnuts

1 cup peanuts

1 cup cashews

This nutty mix is 170 calories, 5.8 g protein, 15 g fat, and 3.8 g net carbohydrates. It is a great S snack for any time or an additional to an S meal. This is a perfect crunch for anyone who just enjoys plain nuts. You can add some salt if you wish, too!

The Tropical Trail Mix

THM E | Low Fat

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

Presenting the one and only E trail mix! The key to this mix is to find only unsweetened dried fruit.

Ingredients

2 cups freeze-dried mangos, unsweetened

1 cup dried diced pineapples, unsweetened

3/4 cup dried papaya, unsweetened

1/4 cup banana chips, unsweetened

This delicious tropical oasis has only 61 calories and 14 g net carbohydrates. It does not have any fat or protein, however. So because this is an E, it would be great as a snack or supplement to your E meals. However, the Trim Healthy Mama Plan does not recommend eating very many dried bananas because they are high in sugar naturally. That is why there is only a 1/4 cup in this mix. Adjust it as necessary if it affects your blood sugar levels negatively.

The Traditional Mix

THM XO | Kid Approved

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

This mix is made for crossover or for maintenance mode. It is great for kids!

Ingredients

4 cups peanuts

1/2 cup Lily's Milk Chocolate or Bake Believe Milk Chocolate Chips

1/2 cup Sun-Maid Organic Raisins

This yummy, healthy twist on the traditional mix has 190 calories, 7.4 g protein, 15.1 g fat, and 7.2 g net carbohydrates. Kids love this mix because it tastes just like the traditional kind that you can get in the store - just without all the sugar!

The Fall Mix

THM XO | Kid-Approved

Serves 16 | Serving Size 1/4 Cup

This mix is designed for kids and those in maintenance mode.

Ingredients

3 cups granola

1 cup whole pecans

1/4 cup apple chips, chopped

4 Tbsp pumpkin seeds

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

This warm mix has 166 calories, 3.8 g protein, 13.9 g fat, and 4.5 g net carbohydrates. It is a crossover because of the apples, so it is great for kids and those in maintenance mode!

I hope you all enjoy these yummy trail mixes!
